Mr. Gerthie Patrick II, age 86, passed away at The Patrick Residence, Orlando, FL on Friday, April 28, 2018. Born on January 19, 1932 in Louisville, KY to Gerthie and Vera Patrick. Gerthie was known for his athleticism and boxing. Gerthie was alumni of Central High School and awarded Most Valuable Player in football. Gerthie was the first African American Superintendent for the City of Louisville Public Works Department of Street Maintenance, where he later retired In 1994. He was honored by the Mayor the Key to the City. Gerthie symbolized his dedication by water baptism in July of 1997 at Freedom Hall as a member of Jehovah's Witness where he vowed to live in harmony with Godly standards. Gerthie looked forward to the hope of everlasting life and reuniting with his loved ones who has preceded him in death. Gerthie was a family man, loving Husband, Friend, Grandfather, Neighbor, Retired Veteran, and God Fearing man. As Gerthie would say, "It's not goodbye, it's see you later". Immediate Family Survivors include: (Wife of 39 years and Best Friend) Sally Patrick, (Son) Gerthie Patrick III, (Daughter) Angel Patrick with Grandson King Patrick, (Daughter) Evelina Wade with Granddaughters Sabria Denny and Summer Wade, (Brother) Russell Patrick, (Brother) Calvin Patrick, and a host of additional family dear to his heart.
