Obituary for Mildred Coleman Neal

Neal, Mildred Coleman, 92, of Louisville, KY, passed away September 6, 2014 at Meadowview Health and Rehabilitation, with family at her bedside. She was born September 18, 1921 in Louisville to Robert and Lora Coleman. She was a faithful member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and had been a member of the choir for 50 years, and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Peter Claver. Mildred was a kind, loving spirit who leaves a host of friends and family that loved her dearly. She was an active member of her community, and devoted to her children, family members, and her extended family of friends. She was called Mama Neal by many, and was known for her friendly and caring nature. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Keith Coleman and Morse Coleman and her son Sterling Neal, Jr. She is survived by her children Velma Givens, Beverly Watkins (Herbert) and Gerald Neal (Kathy), a daughter-in-law Emma Neal, grandchildren Roman Givens (Pamela), Cheryl Brown, Elayne Neal, Sterling Neal III, Eboni Cochran (John), Candis Johnson (Jude), Christopher Givens, Christopher Rasheed, Kenneth Watkins, Donna Watkins, Herbert Watkins, Jr. (Dottie), Brandon Neal and Kristin Neal, great grand children Donovan Givens, Milah Givens, Kai Cochran, Aaliyah Rickter, Malaika Rasheed, Kamyah Rasheed and Arielle Rasheed, Leah Newman, Cheyenne Watkins, great great granddaughter Anberlyn Richter, special friend Jeanette Garvin, and her former care giver and friend Kim Ellis. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church 1545 Louis Coleman Jr. Drive on Wednesday September 10, 2014, with interment at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church at 11:00 a.m. and mass will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. The family would like to thank the staff of the Meadowview Nursing Home for the care and love that was given to Mrs. Neal. Arrangements are handled by W. P. Porter Mortuary.
